1st Annual Softball Game and BBQ…

We are scheduling our summer 1st Annual Softball game and BBQ for Saturday August 21,2010 and our rain date will be Sunday August 22, 2010. We will be making up team for the softball game so anyone that is interested please email Prof. Muller with the positions that you can play and the number you would like on your Jersey. We will be forming two team GB West (New Hyde Park) and GB East (Commack) so please let me know which team you will be playing for. This event is open to all friends, family and kids so please email Prof. Muller with how many people you are expecting to bring. We will also be raffling off merchandise so please buy a raffle to help pay for the event. The location will most likely be Eisenhower Park in East Meadow but we will be posting the official location in a week or so. Thanks and we will see you on the mat soon.

Academy Picture Day…

To all students we will be conducting a photo day at both Academies on Monday July 26, 2010 at 7pm. We are updating the website and would like pictures of all the students from both Academies. If you would like to be on the website and support the team at both the Commack and New Hyde Park Academies we will be shooting a class picture. Please bring your Gracie Barra Gi and this will be open to all students (advanced and fundamental). We urge all students to do their best to make the picture whether you train during the day or night. Thanks and we will see you on the mat soon.

Summer Schedule change for Commack Academy…

Starting Monday July 19, 2010 all night classes from Monday-Friday will be all-level classes. They will all begin at 7pm in the Commack Academy only. Please consult the schedule for the changes. All day classes and weekend classes will stay the same. Thanks and we will see you on the mat.

Wrestling Class is starting this Thursday…

The Wresting class will begin this Thursday (7/15/10) at 6pm in the New Hyde Park Academy. It will be a permanent class and will be on Thursdays at 6pm for now on. This class is part of the MMA program so if you have any questions about this class please see Prof. Joe or Tom. Thanks so you on the mat soon.

Both Academies are Closed for 4th of July Weekend…

Due to 4th of July ending up on a Sunday most people have moved their celebrations to Saturday, therefore we will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Anyone that attends the Invite sparring sessions please email me if you are interested in sparring Monday night. If we have enough people Professor Muller will have a sparring session and an open mat on Monday night. All of us from Gracie Barra Long Island would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday. New Wrestling Class postponed until July 15th…

We will be starting a Wrestling class on Thursday July 15th, 2010 at 6-7pm. It will be held in New Hyde Park every Thursday at 6pm with our own Adam Deoliveira. He has wrestled all of his life and is willing to share everything that he has learned with our students. Due to an illness Adam will not be able to start until July 15th. We are very sorry for the delay but will we see you on the mat soon.

Commack Academy Closed Friday Night…

The Commack Academy night classes will be canceled on Friday June 25th, 2010 but our day class will still be on. One of our students Shin Fukuda is moving back to Japan and will be holding a special farewell class at 7pm at New Hyde Park. All students from both Academies are invited but please email Professor Muller if you plan on going to eat after the class. Sorry for any inconvenience and we will see you on the mat soon.

Shin’s Farewell Training and Party…

If you have not heard already Shin Fukuda will be returning to Japan at the end of June. Shin was such a huge part of our team we would like to throw a going away training and dinner party. On Friday June 25th, we will be conducting a special class just for Shin. As per his request he would like to train with his teammates one last time before he leaves. We will be having a class at 7pm on Friday and then we will be headed to Sushi Palace in Great Neck to bid him farewell. We ask all students who wish to attend the dinner to please email Professor Muller at Tom@graciebarralongisland.com to confirm your seat. We put this together rather quick so if you could respond by Wednesday that would make this party much smoother. Thanks and we will see you on the mat Friday!

Our brother, friend and valued New Hyde Park Academy member, Shin Fukuda, will be returning to Japan on June 29. Shin earned his Brown belt under Professor Joe & Tom. His accomplishments during his time with us are: wining the Renzo Gracie Invitational, New York Open, and recent Long Island Pride No-Gi Brown Belt division. Shin has been a real asset to our family. If you are in the New Hyde Park Academy please bid him farewell. Shin, Good Luck in Japan, everyone at Gracie Barra Long Island will miss you and we hope to see you again on the mat someday soon.

LI Pride Competition Team Warm-Up…

We will be having a team warm-up at the New Hyde Park Academy at 9:30am sharp. The adult No-Gi division for both men and women start at 10:30am so we would like to get a quick warm-up and then head over to the tournament. Good luck to everyone tomorrow and we will see you at the tournament.
